In the sixteenth century Blaise de Vigenere invented a new cipher, now called the Vigenere cipher. The vigenere cipher is based upon 26 alphabets, all Caesar shift type alphabets and the encipherment uses a key. The key determines which alphabet is used for each letter, and so the encipherment is polyalphabetic. The vigenere cipher was first cracked 300 years later by Charles Babbage.
The solution for this cipher, which is a vigenere cipher, is the first word of the decrypted text.
